you know what'd sound nice as a backing track? stand-up bass--maybe bowing in appropriate spots--and synthesizer playing low, drawn-out droney kind of deep ocean sounds.

Stand up bass always sounds nice.

MAKES UPRIGHTS?????? HOLY SHIT!

Now if I could find someone who makes pick-ups, I'd be all set.

Also, sorry for derailing this thread, Devi.

Only electric ones [I have built two] I have yet to make the real thing... But I have a guitar builder friend that keeps trying to talk me into it.. If only I had the time to do it...

Pickups... I use a K&K bass max :idk: Use to use a old Barcus berry which I hated, used a Barcus berry piano pickup taped across one of my eff holes that got a really good sound but kept falling off  Those weird Schaller magnetic pickups are actually cool sounding, but I hear they are noisy, I didn't notice this on the one I tried :idk: I've also seen players in Rockibilly bands that take a P bass pickup and attach to the end of the fingerboard, now THAT would work with effects.
