Ok, so I got a demo done. MIJ JAzzmaster (Novak Bridge, SD Hot Neck) > Heavy Machine > Megalith > Wet > El Capistan > RRR > 1997 AC30 > RE20 > i88x > Cubase. No post processing, the basic setup is a little noisy, but will do for demo sake :) Ist demo is Heavy Machine, a little RRR. 2nd is Megailth, heavy engaged, into Wet nearly maxed into a short delay El Cap into a little RRR. Switch between pups on the 2nd demo, bridge only on the first. Lots of tremelo arm on the 2nd

the most minimal shoegaze setup i've used:
Hardwire RV7>Rat>Muff>ARDX20>RRR
GE-7 in the loop. copious trem use on the jazz.

who knew u had a spx lying around

i don't use the rack very much because it's a pain in the ass to hook up, the Yamahas are rather noisy, and because it's covered in carpet and the cats shred it with their claws. SPX90 in the effects loop of the GEP50 = reverb + early reflections = reverb to die for. i also have a MidiVerb II in the rack, which i suppose i should just call "Little Kevin" and dispense with all pretense.

is the spx a tone suck?
i would love one to just have around for when i want to pretend id also like to try the midiverb 2 ive tried one of the midiverbs it was awesome on some settings but a tone suck
some say the spx is just a tad bit better but it is alot larger

thoughts?

p.s the vision of your cats clawing the spx is hilarious

The SPX definitely works best out of the normal chain, use it on its own loop to add in when needed. Its not as bad as some gear ie quadreverb, but it tends to thin your normal tone a bit too much.

i love my midiverb 4, i do notice a small tone suck but its bearable. for the priced used its awesome, esp for the amount of different reverbs, delays and other time based effects. i have to keep it last in my chain and no dirt from my amp or else it gets noisy as fuck.

my current set up is guitar > crush fuzz > rc-20XL > midiverb 4 > tiny terror
minimal and effective

this. i have an A/B looper that i use with the pedalboard/rack combo with the board in A and the rack in B. not so much because of tone suck, though there's a little of that, but because of line noise. the Yamahas are quiet enough to be useable, but they're a little noisy to leave on all the time.

Thanks man, I can hear the 'gaze! It wouldn't be my go to fuzz for shoegaze but then again I am discovering it's versatility right now. There are much more sounds in that box than I could remember. But then again when I had one for the first time there was no single coil guitar to try it with. And that makes a world of difference.

My setup is pretty minimal as well. I simultaneously run one channel into each input of my JC-120.
Channel 1: Hoof > JC-120 (with reverb and chorus on)
Channel 2: Space Station > Holy Stain > Noise Supressor > JC-120

Gonna add my DOD FX90 Delay soon when my Onespot adapter ships.
