Oscillation is when your pedal generates an audible waveform independent of your playing. Some can be tuned to specific pitches, using either the knobbies on the pedal, or the knobbies on your geetar (don't ask me how - I think it's done by gremlins).

Some people just use it for squeally insanity, but it can also be really cool for sustained notes - some oscillating pedals makes it sound like the held note goes on forever, slowly transmogrifying into the oscillation of the pedal. Look for vids of the Ab-Synth or Eau Claire Thunder to see some representative examples of oscillation in action (though there are plenty of other ILF builder pedals that do it well too).
I'm more like a mids-ist than a bassist.

   hard not to laught at that.

It's what always happens whenever Tom presents a new pedal and somebody asks for a custom model. Also, it is in general what happens basically whenever You buy a Dwarfcraft pedal (well, nearly always).

Like Jrmy said. It's a way of turning Your stringed instrument do more or less coherent old school monophonic squarewave synth stuff in a pre-dialed note. For me, its a way of using the pedal <> instrument interaction as an instrument of its own.
