Tonebender on bass?

Post by theavondon »

Anybody done it? I really loved my Sound Shank, which is a buzzaround, and I'm wondering if any other bender variant would be good on bass. I'm basically just asking for opinions because I'll have money if my band's tour ends up falling through, and I wanna buy myself something pretty to make me feel better. NOTE: I tend to like my fuzzes actually a lot brighter than most bass players seem to. I run my Tone Machine at 1/8th away from full treble, and I used to run a russian big muff full treble. I just crank the volume to make up for low end loss. So, thoughts?

Also, what's your favorite Tonebender? I'm really digging the MKI and the MKIII from demo vids.

I've tried the current version of the EQD Tone Reaper on bass, and I really really really really really really want to buy it now.

Really.

Oooh, EQD is quite nice. But, I'm sorta leaning towards talking to Ian from Ghost Effects...

Tone Bender Jumbo is kinda a muff and sounds great on bass --- lots of low end.

UPDATE!

so, elwd lent me his MKI and MKIII, and...I love both of them. The MKI is EXACTLY the tone I wanted (trashy, trebly but still fuzzy and not tooooo harsh), and the MKIII is a huge wall of badass fuzz. I was hoping to favor one over the other, but, nope. I like both. Gonna have to fucking spend even more money now.
