Visitor Q was too fucking weird even for me.

It wasn't like "OH MAN THAT WAS THE SHIT" like Ichi the Killer.
Which is one of my favorite movies. Right next to Wild Zero. And Tokyo Gore Police.

It was more like "...................................................wat"
I want to rewatch it now though.

i can't remember the name right now (i'm 'bout to watch Super 8 so too lazy to look on the intertoobs), maybe Violator? but there's a book a guy wrote where he broke down all of Miike's movies to that point, reviewed them, gave backstory, synopsises and hard to miss cutural explanations. very cool.

but he talks about how Miike was obsessed with half Japanese people and how many problems they had integrating and not being discriminated against in his earlier work. so watching Q again and focusing on the themes of family and estrangement makes it way more interesting i think. that's one of my favorite parts of the first Dead Or Alive movie, where he explores the disintegration of their artificial family structure.
