For sure!

One of my fave bands of all time...I even got (finally) into Trompe le monde, after all this years with no new material, and I was pretty confused with that one when it first came out.
I'm not sure how I fell about them touring without new songs,it's been a long time...had a chance to see them play nearby, but didn't go there. :?:
The same thing goes for Slint,or any band that's been playing reunion gigs, sorry.

Surfer rosa,Come on pilgrim,Doolittle...even Bossanova...it's all good. :thumb:

I've been listening to their live performances lately, like the BBC one.My fave is 'in heaven',not hard to guess :haha:

I was lucky enough to see The Pixies in 1989, opening up for The Cure (Disintegration tour)......such an awesome night.
But, I also saw them on the reunion tour, and they were still really good (other than knowing the fact that they don't really like each other very much). There's a documentary I saw that covered the reunion......very interesting. Those are some strange folks.

Yeah...i know they're good...BUT,and this is personal(and someone might call me an asshole for that, and I don't care),I don't get this nostalgic moments where I put cash in their bag...for seeing them tolerate each other on the stage just for the money...sorry,but that's not what rock 'n' roll is about,if you ask me.I believe in such foolish ideals, like integrity...

The Cure and The Pixies in '89.?...you lucky, lucky man... :thumb: :thumb:

I agree with you to a large extent. But, in the Pixies case, I feel like they never really got their due (or their payday).....and they are much more popular and influential now than when they were originally together........so I felt like I actually wanted to give them money (and glory)......which they have deserved, but never recieved. :idk:

I saw The Cure in a small theater in 1986 too. :p

pixies are good. i used to be into them alot more when i was in high school. there was almost to big of a pixies phase so i had to chill out from them for a while. all the albums were great, but Bossanova is the album i love the most. mainly because of some great memories when that one was playing. Surfer Rosa a close second.

Yeah,I totally agree with what you're sayin',too...unfortunately,they were much more popular AND loved in Europe, than in the US,at the time... :(
I also agree that they deserve their piece of the pie,but I would love to see them writing/playing something new,I guess.Whatever, there aren't many bands so good, creative and influential ...awesome fuckin' band!

Hell yeah! :omg: Pixies are my favorite band of all time.

The only tattoo I've ever gotten was the Pixies logo on my forearm when I was 18. Evidence:

I'm going to go ahead and be annoyingly honest and say I like all of their albums equally. They are all so different- it would be too hard to choose. Though I've probably listened to Surfer Rosa and Trompe Le Monde the most.

I'm also a huge fan of Frank Black / Black Francis' solo stuff too. WAY under-appreciated.

Oh hellz yeah. In fact, the Pixies were such a huge deal to me that I hardly ever listen to them anymore, if that makes any sense. They had such a huge impact on me, they're kind of always there.

I love all of their albums, but Surfer Rosa and Doolittle have special places in my heart for different reasons... if I had to pick just one, it would be Surfer Rosa, because "Where Is My Mind" and "Gigantic" were the first songs my college band ever covered... Gigantic was a staple of our set for a long time. One of my favorite basslines of all time...

It's pretty hard to translate... because it's a total hilarious nonsense... Most of them doesn't even make sense in spanish.

From Oh my golly:
Dentro las piñones y la ola es pequeña - > Inside the pine nuts (¿?) and the wave (sea waves) is small.
besando, chichando con surfer rosa -> Kissing and fucking (chichando is a vulgar mexican way of fucking) with surfer rosa (rosa means pink).
Yo soy playero pero no hay playa - > Im a 'beacher' ( playero is someone that likes beach and surfing) but there's no beach here.
La vida total es una porquería , porquería -> Total life is a piece of junk piece of junk .
Rosa, oooh, rosa, rosa... -> Pink, oooh, pink, pink :omg:

This is the translation of isla de encanta (it's a gramatical nightmare in spanish):
Little monkey come with me,
There are planes each hour,
Island of the enchantment,
I'm leaving!
Where there is no suffering,
They saw me pass by the street,
Island of the enchantment,
I'm leaving!
Our own animal sings for free for the people,
Hey babe what are we doing here?
Laaa Loooh,Fatherland.
Island of the enchantment,
I'm leaving!

Thank you so much V0id!  Usually, the lyrics don't mean much to me,but if the music is good,I have to know what it's all about!Like, get the whole picture.I'm sure that the other forumers appreciate it as well!!! :thumb:

*edit* I've just cranked up 'motorway to roswell' and 'letter to memphis' and some of the other songs really loud (I live in an apartment and it's night here where I live, like 5 in the morning)...opened a can of beer or two,put my feet on the table...fuck yeah!!!This music will never get old, it's so fuckin' good!
