I need an expression pedal

Post by sylnau »

I need an expression pedal with a TRS right angle plug.
Roland EV5... is that a good one? What are you using?
I need it for the Four Eyes Fuzz (will also use it with the SuperDelay).

Get your own trs cables? I bought a 10 pack of right angles for like $4 bucks.

Contact fairfield and see what he suggests, and if possible ask him for the best pot value (25k? 50k? 100k?)
Not all expression pedals are built the same, which is something most guitarists overlook. Each pedal is designed with an optimal value giving you a proper sweep with the expression pedal.
It's not always an issue (I think the super delay can use a few different types) but sometimes it is :idk:

Most builders use industry standards (ernie ball vp jr, moog, fv5 etc) but there are a few weird ones out there.
IIRC the fv5 is 10k, the EB VPjr is 25k and the moog is 50k.
There are some that call me...morningstaru?

Why won't anyone sell me a Moog EP 2? Surely you guys have some just lying around...surely.

I really like the Moog EP-2 as well, it's a good useable range for a lot of effects and it's also solid and sturdy, doesn't feel cheap even though it's less than 50 bucks.

I dig the Mission stuff too.. so they do a pedal that can replace the EP-2? I wasn't sure as on their site they don't have the specs like the resistance or the cable type.

For the record, a 50k pedal with TRS cable will work on all my pedals with expression controls.

Not to snake, but does anyone know if you could split the output of an expression input to multiple exp ins?

The only problem with the EP-2, it have a straight plug (not right angle) and I don't have the tools to modify it.
And I would have to order it since it's not avaliable here.

Mission have a pedal (in a wah enclosure) with two output... when you engage the pedal it switch from one to another.

Right Syl, I forgot about the right angle requirement.. that could be a toughie! I've got several exp pedals here and not one has a right angle plug... some you can use whatever cable you want with though, like the big EB and BOSS ones, that could be an option maybe.

I'll do some search... thanks!!
Mission look cool and you can choose your cable... but they are expensive.

I just received the Mission EP-1. It should work similarly to the EP-2 and at least for my usage better. It actually has a 10k pot in it which my intended pedal actually prefers. I should get a more controllable sweep.

Also a pic.
