I would say a jazzmaster or (provided you are somewhere where you can play one) a ric. But, you don't have to spend it on a guitar; that kind of money puts you into vintage moog territory.

I'd look around for a used Les Paul. The newish stuff ain't so great (a lot of it), but the 80s and early-to-mid 90s Pauls are really nice, in my opinion.

I would just wait until you see some crazy deal and scoop it up. evertime I see something go for really cheap at a pawn shop or ebay, its gone in days. also, what about rare hard to find guitars. sometimes they find you but the timing is bad. the 3 D's death, divorce, downsizing. someone else's misfortune is the best way to buy gear. I got my strat cause some scum bag owed child support and was facing jail time. but if I had to spend it, I would be looking for a ernie ball dargie delight petrucci. if you can get a nice used anything with humbuckers, spend $350 on a pair of custom lollar pickups or amalfitano pickups. they are > everything. this is probably flame bait but get a used prs with a solid rosewood neck. the sustain is fucking tits.

The late 70's Aluminum Necked Kramers can be had for less than a $1000. Not a Bean but still a pretty cool guitar. I've got a friend who has a 250G.
