Eau Claire Thunder...

Post by Radiohead625 »

2 questions about this pedal... I know it's loosely based off a green muff, but can it easily achieve classic airy green muff sounds ala Black Keys as well?
second how is this pedal with vox amps? I know muffs usually hate vox.

Hi!
The ECT is never going to "nail" green muff sounds, as it's got a some key components changed, even in the most "normal" mode. As far as the Vox goes, I've never heard about Vox hating Muffs. I imagine it would be pretty bad ass with the AC-30 type, since those are just adapted from the Bassman. Sorry I'm not more help!

I tried to emulate some green muff sounds after watching some green muff vids (never actually played one) and I feel the ECT isn't going to get too 'airy' like some of the green muff clips I've heard, it just seems to stay thick and heavy. Take this with a grain of salt as I use high output humbuckers so I get a bit more distortion.

You can coax some good lower gain sounds out of it, but I don't think you'll nail green muff tones.

^this is a fallacy, i love both to death. that being said, mantooth is correct in saying the ECT is just too brutal ( in my experiences) to get a perfect Black Keys tone.

Pffft, no way. Timewarp down, dial back the fuzz a bit, i mean youll get the same vibe, at least.

I could see this working out, I can definitely get some more tame sounds from it but my pickups are just too brutal

And I like it that way...

The ac-30 is based of the bassman? didn't know that one, but hey you learn something new everyday. Well either way, i might just get one to go after something different, plus i love the demos on pgs.com lol. I'm determined to find a Dwarfcraft pedal that fits me... I'm a huge Packer fan and I feel this is my duty lol :thumb:
