The duncans in my jag are the only 'aftermarket' pups I've ever tried and I bought it with them so I don't know anything about any other brands!

They do sound good though. When I got the guitar it had the humbucker in the bridge, and I found it too harsh and trebly in a bad way, and I like lots of treble. There might have been a problem with the wiring though, whoever did it before I got the guitar did a terrible job of that. I think a humbucker in the bridge would work better for thick rock tones, the single coil in mine sounds great and not
thin, but there's still loads of treble.
Honestly I don't know how dark/thick you can ever get a jaguar, seems like all the jangle just cuts through.
