Envelope tremolo

Post by Teej212 »

ive been wanting to do this for a long time, i think upwards of a year, but really havent made any headway on it. heres my idea: take the envelope follower and input buffer from the Dr. Quack, and incorporate it into the tremulus lune, to control either speed or depth. heres the schematic i kinda hacked together. i posted it on DIY sb's so i might as well post it here!

i'd love for someone to check it over, tell me if theres any reason it wouldnt work. thanks!

im not even sure how necessary the input buffer is,but i thought there was a buffer necessary so you could use any instrument with the trem.

edit: just noticed theres no input and output cap on the buffer.

You probably don't need an input coupling cap on the JFET.

so i want to make the depth pot a variable resistor, only using two of the three lugs on a pot. would i be able to do this by simply removing the pot and replacing the 330 ohm resistor with say a 25k pot like this:

What benefit would this have?

it would just make it easier to switch with an LDR. since the pot is wired as a voltage divider it might be hard to control with an LDR. if it were wired as a variable resistor then i could easily interchange the two. also 1k is a very small value and LDR's have a minimum resistance of 8k usually.
