IMPORTANT QUESTIONS! NEED INPUT!

Post by aen »

Okay! So we're considering quite a few things, in general, shrinking down pedals, changing controls, and getting itty bitty populated PCBs made. The idea here is to speed up production and save dollars.

1. Shrinking pedals/control changes
This idea includes 4 pedals: The Great Destroyer, Hax, Robot Devil, Shiva. These would be placed in smaller enclosures, like the Baby Thundaa.

TGD controls would remain the same,

Hax would be the same EXCEPT the High/Low range switch would be made into a toggle, rather than a stomp.

Shiva would have no stomp switch for the Starve control. It will be "always on" but of course, you can dial the starve all the way up, so there is no starve action.

Robot Devil controls would remain the same, EXCEPT the octave -1/-2 switch would be a toggle rather than a stomp.

These would all change to TOP MOUNTED JACKS.

So reply with your thoughts, these are all just ideas right now. We are certain that we WANT to use prefab/populated PCBs (speed up production!!!!) and I hope that this would allow us to implement top mounted jacks on most pedals.

Forgot I had an account here... Doubling up my vote for tiny enclosures. I am afterall a tiny person. Plus the smaller the pedals the more dwarfcraft people can fit on their boards. ;)

Hmmmm iunno I like extra footswitches, at least in theory, I haven't used any of these pedals, so I can't really comment on how useful the functionality is.
I would definitely say go for it on the TGD. & top mounted jacks are awesome.

TGD - go ahead, let's spare some pedalboard space. Even the Secret Destroyer can be fitted in the smaller enclosure. Tiny destroyer also had the knobs safely away from the stomping feet... but having the knobs on the side may seem to some making it harder to SEE the adjustments when tweaking between the songs. :idk:

So let me get this straight - You are considering quitting the two foot switch models, right? :erm: I, personally, love to have the opportunity to switch shit on and off and and change the tones along the songs so in cases of SHIVA and the ROBOT DEVIL it would seem - to me - a step backwards. THEN AGAIN, I have put up with TGD having only one foot switch and accepted that once I step on it, there's no turning back. So it can be a matter of being accustomed to the idea of dual foot switch models.

Are we going to see the saved buck in the prices, reaching for new customers, or are You trying to keep the prices and deal with the market pressures? :)

I always thought top mounted jacks were higly desirable. Just curious, 4455, why don't you like em?

will something like an external footswitch be an option?
something like...
Image
switches can be fitted in a separated enclosure so we can plug it in if we really need to.

P.S.

i always thought if i could route the ECT's feedback tune knob to an expression pedal would be bad ass.
what do you think master Aen?

oh, and i don't mind if you do the same for the Starve knob too...

but what do i do with my old version pedals then...

^ that would be awesome, but I imagine the smaller enclousures would probably make it hard to add another jack.

...yeah, well - extra jack for optional exp pedal WOULD make for losing the extra foot switch, right? :thumb: That's an option. Not a bad option, either: I'm afraid that replacing the stopms with toggle switches inevitably looses some of the pedals charm with its controllability. :idk:

The ECT's starve pot is 20x higher value than a moog exp pedal, and the expression pedal is 25x higher value than a starve pot in a dwarfcraft device. so what I'm saying is, they don't match up, unfortunately.

Well this is all even more speculative than it was at first, our "source" in chicago turned out to be a huge pile of shit, so we're back at the beginning.
