I actually purchased coily cable based on an SRV story I heard where he refused to use the studio boutique cables.

Now that I have it and have used it for a while, I don't think I would ever go back to a straight cable.

Not me personally but I have an EVH obsessed friend who just built 2 exact frankenstien clones: He is also chasing down the pedals and such, but signature pedals are so sketchy because they are usually based on an older model pedal anyway, plus it's hard to tell who actually uses them, and who just has them on their board.

After much pondering and inaction I found out that Henry Kaiser really liked the Dice Works Muffs. After that I decided to buy a Muff Diver and it is a great pedal.

I've never bought anything because of someone famous, but I have certainly looked at equipment that players I admire use, that I may not have considered otherwise.

Melvin Gibbs (Rollins Band) and Stefan Lessard (DMB) were the guys that got me to look at Warwicks, but it was ultimately my decision to settle on a Corvette, instead of a Thumb or Dolphin.

Kramer DMZ cuz Die Kreuzen.
Strat cuz Mudhoney.
Fuzz pedals cuz Mudhoney + I liked dist pedals already, fuzz = distortion + awesome.
Boss Heavy Metal HM-2 cuz Entombed + Dismember + MBV.
Ampeg VH-140C cuz it was cheap, but also cuz of Assuck.

Always had GA$ for a Duo Sonic cuz of Television, and a mosrite cuz of the Ramones.

I bought a 5-string Ibanez Soundgear because of KoRn, like in 2002 or something..
Bought an RV-3 because of all the post-rock bands using it back in the days..
And I also purchased a PS-2 because I wanted some Health-style tones.. But I think that is mainly PS-3 :face-palm: I like it though^^

I bought a Small Clone because of Nirvana. I bought a blacktop Jazzmaster because I like they way they look but it didn't help that all my favorite bands use them. Most of my GAS came from this forum.

Fuzz because of David Gilmore. Telecaster because of teppei from thrice, strat because they're sweet and Kurt cobain played them, emperor because I saw Russian circles and mouth of the architect use them.

I spent most of my life going against buying stuff like people I like, but damn it after getting into Boris I NEEDED a Orange of my own, I wanted "that" type of sound. So I got a TV200 mainly because it will do bass and guitar. It is a really good bass amp [it rule for dirty bass sounds, RULES!] but I think it is the best sounding guitar amp I have ever played through.
