I think, at least in American culture, it has always been ok to be the boring white guy. Try to take another path, though, and see opposition come out on all sides....

Look at blues in the U.S. and Great Britain....it was only generally accepted and celebrated by the masses when it started to be played by boring white guys.....now for the most part it is only played by boring white guys....they co-opted it and ruined it with their boutique tube screamers, Dumbles and Robben Ford. Now your average "blues man" is a 60 year old dentist with a Mercedes and a $3,000 guitar. I wonder what Robert Johnson would think of that?

David Byrne is the man! Saw him live two years ago and it turned me into a huge fan, the guy is a genius.

I don't really like anything Clapton's done that much, he's pretty good and has some nice enough sounds, but I don't see anything special about his playing.

^I bet all the real bluesmen are fine with it because the same midlife crisis dentists will pay whatever to see their favourite guys play.

I don't think sober Clapton had a chance to ruin electric guitar. Non-sober Clapton hadn't done anything remotely interesting since about 1971(and the most interesting guitar work on the Derek and the Dominoes project came from Duane Allman anyway). I think he was overrated in the first place.

To me, Clapton did Cream and Gently Weeps with Harrison, then he died a tragic death. Everything after that was done by a doppelganger that wanted to make the world think he was bland and soulless.

EDIT:: quick correction, he died right after Blind Faith.

Yeah, I am cool with Cream (though way more for Jack Bruce than Clapton) and with Derek and the Dominoes (though again, Duane Allman did way more than he gets credit for), but that's it. Dude should have died in '71 of an overdose, he'd be massively huge and everything he's done since then is garbage.

There's a quote from Clapton somewhere about why he basically made the conscious decision to become a pussy. Apparently when he was really high on stage at some point, he played an "evil" lick and the crowd turned into demons, but when he played a "nice" part, the crowd turned into angels or something. He supposedly decided at that point that it was better to go with the angel side than the demon side. Weak and lame.

Yep Pete is clearly n the minimalist way when it comes to graphics/aesthetics but the pedal feels pretty "pro".
Anyway , tested it for an hour or two...it's a very very cool pedal , the first thing who shocked me is that it stays very clear even at maximum gain...
The sustain knob (gain) is versatile , from a light crunch (tube preamp like) to a big fat dirty crunch with somme fuzzy sound on the bass.
Will do video sometimes later and compare it with my other drive pedals (Barbershop , fuck OD , Okko Diablo..and maybe some more SIB! Varidrive , Lovepedal Kalamazoo/les lius )
