Shortie be frontin

Post by Gearmond »

so basically i've been wanting a shortscale bass for a long-ass time, but i'm too cheap to buy a new one.

so i put a capo on my bass to try out the scale, and i friggin love it.

now i want a short scale bass of my own. 1. to get a new bass, and 2. because you don't get gigs with a spector despite how awesome they are.

any recs for some shorties?

besides the obvious mustang, etc.

What the fuck does the brand have to do with getting gigs? If you get the right sound and can play the songs then what should it matter? What type of losers are you trying to apply for? Anyone that says you have to play a certain looking instrument for a style needs reamed by a flagpole multiple times.

Soul and funk.

But if there is a lack of spectors in the type of music you like to play then be the first! Blaze a mighty trail and push the posers aside.

You could say that about most "modern" basses. It's all in the eye of the beholder though :idk: I love that inlay shape they use though.

Those Jaguar ones look sweet as hell. I say go for that over an Epi EB-0 or EB-3. That way you don't have to deal with the weird-ass bridge and butt pickups.

Well, the pickups might be butt (just like the ones in my Fender Jag) or they might not. But the EB pickups will most likely be...mudbutt.

Not so! those epi pickups be thin and shitty! no mud! A REAL mudbucker is a thing to behold for they are huge sounding! They hit everything you run then through like a big 30k fist of distruction!

I've owned a few, and I dig my RI Mustang the most. Really super bass and the price is just right.

for cheap, Gretsch makes a shortie that's fun - Electromatic Jr Jet.
Great pickup in it - I bought it for my wife, but it sounds good enough I would use it as a backup, no problem. $225 new.
Maybe partying will help.

Played one today at a GC. Picked it up, it was tuned in C standard, and I just riffed away at some Kyuss songs. I've never wanted a Squier until now.

No, because they're in the studio, making the real money.

And actually, I've seen a lot of country and pop artists rock Spectors. Check out their artist list.
