Well this thread has answered my question: Pete Cornish pedals are just ugly looking big muffs with buffers instead of true bypass because of a previous unwanted sexual encunter :thumb:

also this seems like a good time to promote my new business. for a meager $500 I will downgrade any muff to buffer bypass and put it through my patented ugly-ing process where I sand off all the finish, put 80's label machine labels all over it, and cover it in penis drawings. and for $600 I will upgrade it to true bypass.

 .....pete cornish makes gear that never breaks down for touring pros. he's one of the innovators in that field and therefore has a 2 year waiting list for his work and he charges as he pleases. he is proven in his field. we can laff and poke jokes but he's the one making the cash.
and he was doing this shite before many of us members were even born.

Yah, no disrepect to his build work and prolific career, the artists he works for use him for a reason, he'll get them what they want (and the lack of true bypass is no issue when he builds your entire rig) but the fact they've become some haven of magic tone boxes for some people is silly when it really is just a big muff clone at heart that someone could build very well for $100.

And dear god try and tell them that there is no magic in those boxes and it wont make them sound like gilmour, they'll deny your existance if they have to.

well, yeah, of course i know that Cornish has been around since dogs had scales, and that he built pedals for Gilgamesh. and i don't doubt that he uses top-quality components, immaculate construction, etc.; at those prices he'd bloody well better. but as i said about Dumble amps on another forum the other day, for that kind of price a Cornish box should drive me to the venue, play the gig for me, drive me home again, give me a blow job, and tuck me into bed.

Well looks like it's time for me to start modding big muffs! Maybe some tubescreamers too...

From what I gathered from skimming a bit at FSB a while back, the G-2 is a Big Muff derivative, but not just a Muff clone. The gurus there thought that the changes showed some intelligence worthy of study.

Would I pay that kinda money for one? No. Am I hoping that they reverse the Cornish fuzz pedal next? Yes!
