i have not used them personally, but i know a guy who has an aluminum Strat--seriously, an aluminum body and a neck machined from billet with resonant chambers inside--with Alumitones that i've heard when we've jammed. they have a very interesting tone that's difficult to describe...clear, clean as a surgeon's table, having a metallic resonant quality yet not the least bit "clanky," and apparently very senstitive to variations in pick attack. if you roll off the treble, they'd be jazz PUs of the gods. i have no idea how they do with fuzz or other effects.

I really think the general consensus on these is "Oooh, I'd love to give them a try, but they's 'spensive."

Very nearly bought a set to stick in my Jag after my old Lipsticks died. I eventually decided against it after I realised it's a gamble to buy a set of three and try to sell the one (cheaper than buying two singles if successful) and I found another set of the old Lipsticks I was using for £40. Considering they're current based and a bit different in that respect, I was hesitant to pull the trigger in case they reacted completely differently to my fuzzes etc.
Maybe if I get around do doing something with my old Jagmaster body, I'll drop some in there to see what happens.

I played a richmond dorchester in the store once. it was only 10 minutes, but I thought the alumitone pickups sounded really nice.

I had a set of HB size in my Carvin SC90S. They were great. They have a hi-fi sound quality to them. No real distinct tonal shape other than they bring out the lows in your signal nicely but not with too much emphasis. I would recommend them to anyone.

Here's a clip I made with them trying to show off a Barber Trifecta to someone and at the same time showing how responsive the Alumitones are. Note the pull offs and push ons with only intermittent picking. At least that's what I was trying to go for...

I saw this picture of Hendrix, all he used was a wah.... And not even the Jim Dunlop Jimi Hedrix wah, just some old thing.....
Jimi didn't realise the horrible tone suck we had to listen to every time he used that wah.

from what i've heard from them, they're very bright sounding. i wanna replace the JB humbucker in my strat, but i think i want something a little warmer that the alumitone doesn't seem to cover. plus i may seem really old fashioned but i just can't picture one in any of my guitars :/
