Snark Tuner Anyone? It works and only $10!

Post by Holy Schnikes »

So I'd never tried a clip on tuner but my friend left his over the other night and it works great, WAY BETTER THAN EXPECTED. Compared it to my Polytune and it's right on, or very, very close. Anyway, you can find them on Amazon for around $10 shipped, nice to have around for sure. I'd imagine the Polytune may ride the bench for awhile, make room for more fuzz!

To clarify, the SN-1 model is for guitar/bass while the SN-2 is a multi-instrument tuner which can handle banjo, uke, etc as well.

I'd be concerned about live use as well but I've seen others use it with success. My buddy uses it on bass and it's worked nicely thus far. I'd just like to have it around for quick, easy tuning and at $10 it's worth a shot. I'm gonna try it out at practice though, see how it goes.

Highly recommend the snark! I bought a clip on intelli tuner a few years ago because I was too cheap to buy a tuner pedal. I don't know about live situations, but I still use this tuner for my acoustic instruments even though I now have a polytune onthe board for my electric. My wife recently bought a solid body electric uke off of eBay that came with a free snark, and I like it even better than than mine. Even for electric, these tuners are just as convenient as pedal tuners and way cheaper. I do know that mine seems to have a hard time tuning basses though, but I have not yet tried the snark on bass. Love the snarks color display!

I got a big sales pitch on those last time I was in my local music store... The guy held me hostage while tuning a acoustic with harmonics showing that doing this would be out of tune... and then tuned with the handy, dandy, amazing Snark showing that he couldn't tune a guitar by ear....

Same here, I blew it off at the time because I didn't feel like dropping $29.99 on a clip on tuner. I'm sure they push 'em hard because of the sweet profit margin, shit, they were going for $5.95 on Amazon today, cost must be next to nothing!

If it works out, I'll probably shelve the Polytune awhile and squeeze a more exciting pedal onto my board.

I'll probably get a Snark for my acoustic guitars, now that I have a Korg Pitchblack on my board..

I found out that these are a Danelectro product (well, under the Danelectro corporate umbrella) when I called the support number to inquire about its accuracy. Did not get any useful info on its accuracy - it seems fine, at least as good as my Planetwaves Chrome Chromatic which I believe is +/-1cent or something like that, and it works well enough, but they're at the very least acting as a distributor for the product. It's a pretty cool clip-on, I got one for me just for shits and giggles but also one for my little sister who just picked up an Acoustic as well and so who really did need a tuner that doesn't require an electrical signal to work on.

Google. Yeah, it's just a search engine, but my signature is awfully small without it.

I just got the Snark SN-2, it has dead spots on the display that make it impossible to tell what note you are tuning to

I did buy two, the 2nd works perfectly. Kinda bummed one is broken though, they were both christmas gifts.

My little sister got me one for Xmas. I'll let you guys know how it is.

Anytime I can save board space it's a huge plus.

Yeah I already submitted a return/replacement request via email.
Not sticking around the phone lines this time of year :erm:

fwiw I gave the other one a quick test run and it works amazingly well.
This one was both the vibration mode and a mic mode, they both seem pretty accurate.
