Aluminum neck guitars

I've got a black Kramer DMZ 2000. Loved playing that guitar, but it's just too heavy for me nowadays. I bought the heavy beast because the guitarist in Die Kreuzen used one back in the 80's.

later he switched to the kramer stereo ripley and his live sound was of mammoth proportions....great band......

i've played many aluminum necked guitars and have never liked the necks on any of them, just not comfortable for me. and once those fukkers get cold they can be a bitch. travis beans are pretty fukking rad none the less. aluminum necks lead to really nice slide tones in any form.

i've also played many many trussart's...i've known james for a long time. i love his guitars but must say there are really hit and miss and far as sound. and once you have one that misses...it continues to miss no matter what pickups you put in it. i dunno what it is but it's not like a good piece of wood.

Yes, I am. I've got a friend out on the east coast that wants to buy it from me when they come through on tour this summer, but don't know if he's really serious about it... If you're serious about wanting it, drop me a PM and I can send you pics. The DiMarzio bridge was swapped out for a Tom Anderson, and you'd need a new alum nut cuz it's filed for a .075 string on top. Beyond a couple stickers, it's ready for it's second musical go-round.

So I'm on the verge of putting my deposit and name on a list for an EGC custom jazzmaster-esque guitar with 2 p90s and a stoptail, with 2 volume and 2 tone controls. Apparently his turnaround time sits at around 30 weeks now! Thoughts, anyone? Will it look like ass?

I think it would look pretty badass. Stoptail would give you that amazing sustain, as the the strings would be threaded through the neck assembly. Having the jazz trem would be great too though.



There was a purple SG EGC posted on the electrical forums a while back, I'm GASing hard for a brown/natural 70s style SG monster.

^ Is that yours?? Looks AMAZING. The seamless deal is making me debate using a pickguard, rhythm circuit switches look very clean-cut too! I don't know about the trem though, wasn't a fan on my AVRI. I'm also looking at a fuller neck profile, apparently Kevin makes them quite thin by default?

if you don't get a jazz trem, I'd go with his usual string through, hardtail bridge. that way you can reap the benefits of string to neck contact, which are sustain and resonance or something

i used to have a DMZ 2000


ex girlfriend thought it'd be sweet to engrave a love note on the back plate.... was sweet until we broke up.
begone with all things that are reminders of ex's.

it weighed a ton and needed 30mins of warming up before the tuning would settle.
kind of wish I still had it. I should have just looked for a new back plate.



does anyone know the 'Kramer vs Travis Bean' story? not sure if it's true: Kramer was US and Travis was UK, and they had legal issues with who owned the design (since they're both the same... are they?). and instead of fighting it out they both decided to stop making them. Kramer continued making 'heavy metal' guitars ruining their legacy and since Travis Bean didn't they're more sought after... ???
