Based solely on fuzz "character," I'm astounded that the Pharaoh has been such a tremendous hit (especially here) while the Blunderbuss went relatively unnoticed (especially here).

I haven't played the Black Cat. I DID have a tour box of they're stuff and it was all really nice inside and out. Greg the builder really knows what he's doing.

So just based on my experiences with BC I'm gonna go with that.

Honestly though, I really didn't see what the hype of the Barge was about.

The Pharaoh sounds like a distortion pedal to me. I think it's good at what it does, and the price point has made it something people aren't afraid to try out (which is fucking awesome). That said, for a fuzz, I don't find it very fuzzy. Huge, yes - fuzzy, not so much.

The Blunderbuss, the way I use it, sounds like my amp exploding. Not breaking, not dying, not running too hot - exploding. I almost feel like Kyle should have printed "Blunderbuss" on the enclosure and refrained from mentioning any relation to the Musket when he released it - it's capable of achieving levels of insanity far outside the reaches of a Musket, and I think people aren't biting because they think it's "just a germanium Musket." You can get normal muff (and even overdrive [gasp!])sounds out of it as well, but who can be bothered with those, right?

custom color wolfs had 2 people reselling within the first week. and ofcourse it happened when I had no moneys. its probably the one pedal a always bitch about how hard to find it is. I dont think any less of it cause people sold it though.

Don't forget the Eventide Space, lots of praise being thrown at that pedal. I don't use enough reverb to justify the cost of that thing though, top dollar 'verb right there, probably what's gonna hold it back from becoming a monster phenomenon.

The one thing I would say about the space is even though its a high dollar item its packed with so many other features that you could almost use it as a standalone multi effect by its self. I'm still really digging my Space because I always wanted lots of tweakability in the reverb realm.

Keep in mind, too, that a lot of these pedals start out at introductory prices and then go up over time due to costs of production, etc. So you've got a few factors in play:

1) Cost model reduces the risk of early adoption - $120 for a Pharaoh or $145 for a Year 4545 is really not a HUGE investment if you're already playing around in this space.
2) There's like a minimal barrier to entry into the market, which means you have new stuff coming out ALL the time (often at that same cost model) - which also encourages active flippery
3) Life events (you could map activity in B/S/T to seasonal events like holidays, tax season, even things like when rent is due)

I'd be interested to see (but not interested enough to do the math ) what the economic life cycle is on a lot of these pedals - which ones "flatten out" over time, which ones continue to sell and be successful, etc. The Snowdrift is another one where there was a lot of action and excitement, then they stopped immediately selling out, and now you see them sit in B/S/T (I have one myself, thought about getting rid of it due to redundancy and decided to hold off on selling it for now).

Agreed, some demos have been popping up lately showcasing the range of the Space, quite the tool!

The TC Hall Of Fame has been getting some love also, looks pretty nice for the price...

I think a lot of people are going to either space or timeline + a good cheaper verb/delay (flashback, hall of fame, or neunaber wet). A few will go for both but I kinda feel like their unique sounds step on each others toes eg. ice vs shimmer or vinyl vs mangledverb. Based off of eventides history of updates I felt comfortable going with the space, it also didn't hurt that it came out first.

Yeah, I think the seasonality thing has something to it. Another variable in the spreadsheet...

I've definitely bought pedals just to try them out, knowing I could probably get most of the cost back. I think of it as a rental fee. It seems like the only option when these things aren't in the shops.
