The recording quality sounds a lot better than Zeitgeist. It's better than GLOW. The fuzz is fucking heavy too, oh an the singing is much better.... not as thin and flimsy as previous recordings.

At least they have a huge back-catalog to keep oneself entertained forever. :joy:

I still want to know about this unreleased song title "Death Boogie" from the machina era though. :grumpy:

Lazy, emotionless, and boring.

devi ever wrote:I remember a quote... I believe from the Pisces Iscariot liner notes... where he mentions something about Frail and Bedazzled not being on Siamese Dream because it wasn't up to the standard of all the other SD songs (he said it more like "too small amongst the tall trees).

Frail and Bedazzled... not good enough to be amongst the Siamese Dream songs.

Now he's pumping (or pumpkining) out these truly lackluster and uninspired indie-rock songs one after another. None of which has yet to even remotely compare in depth or scope to a song that Billy once said wasn't good enough to be on a major release.

Look. I'm not saying the new music doesn't have merit, or doesn't come from a true place, but from a very scientific unbiased perspective, Billy just isn't pushing the same production boundaries he once did in the studio, and I'm beginning to think he's incapable of doing it himself (whether that be because of inability, or lack of motivation... i dunno).

Once and for all, I feel I can say... RIP Smashing Pumpkins.

I do not welcome our Corgan and Chamberlain indie-rock duo overloards.

I've been trying to pinpoint how to convey what I feel about the new era Smashing Pumpkins, and this truly sums it up. Devi: +1 for eloquence.

Ok, in all honesty, I've never listened to the Smashing Pumpkins. I have Siamese Dream, and I like, but I don't know where to go from there. Never really got into them, so can someone tell me what's so great about them?

I mean this non-offensivally of course, I was never exposed to there music.

:idk:

Ok, I'll see if I can find it.

Um, this isn't gonna be 'Today' is it? Happy, jaunty music to lyrics about harming yourself? Cause I really don't dig that.

I know, and thanks alot, but I buy my albums, even if it's used. I still like to have a physical copy.

So prolly next weekend, I'll run to my local music store! :)

depending on how you count it, this is either my least or most favorite part about billy corgan writing and releasing new material. there's always this explosion of "well it doesn't sound like bullet/cherub rock/i am one so clearly it's rubbish." a few years later, everyone's feeling a little calmer, and they come back with "you know this record is pretty good, actually." ;)

it happened with TFE, it happened with Zwan... i daresay to an extent it happened with Machina and Adore. it will happen with Zeitgeist & the renewed band. :p

i'm really curious about something though, when the band toured for Machina with MADM on bass, was that "not" the Pumpkins?

Pretty sure D'arcy was there for most of the recordings except "Age of Innocence," so that probably why people didn't have as much beef. The songs were pretty much written in the same idk "context." I don't think there's any substitute for james/d'arcy/madm that would've make people happy. I just hope his 80's shoegaze influenced songs are coming soon that he was talking about.
