What type of fuzz?

Post by Teej212 »

so i was in my brother's car and he was listening to ratatat and i really liked the sound of the lead synth, but it sounds really fuzzy and i was wondering if there was a pedal that sound like it?

its so hard to tell what fuzz was used on a synth cause the synth is way louder and low impedance. like if you listen to this, its not very fuzzy at all until the tail of the note sputters out. and synthesizers can get any sound they want without fuzz pedals so if you cant hear it clean than you really dont know where the synth wizardry ends and the fuzz begins. i will say this though, if its not polyphonic, then he definitely has his oscillators tuned in a chord. or its a monosynth multitracked in the studio. or maybe he is playing guitar and pog style thingy with fuzz

Yeah, I can never even tell when they're using synths vs. guitars. It's kind of cool, but they never seem to expand on it. Very homogeneous sound, but that's besides the point. I feel like a Devi Ever Bit Fuzz might be what you're going for. I always feel like their sound seems super compressed. I'm not to great with these kinds of things, but that's just my initial thoughts.

My Fuzz Factory pretty much nails that sound. Especially when I dial in my ParaEq to perfection after it.

That's pretty much my favorite kinda fuzz :thumb:
