it sounds worse then it is, most of them are in the middle of no where or die out before doing much damage. the only things was the last storm system was really crazy and pretty much all the damage was from it. thankfully though, where I live most of the storms swing north of us and the most I get is wind and rain.

So what do you do when a tornado comes through town? Hide in the concrete basement?

there is a warning system that signals when conditions are favorable for funnel clouds, and when that sounds you go to either a basement/cellar(if you have one, we have crap soil so they are rare) or small central room in your house(usually a bathroom or closet). But, tornadoes/conditions that are actually a threat are quite rare and we usually only have the siren sound once or twice a year(minus the tests).

Must be scary to hear that siren going off...

Maybe we should all just plan to live in Canada... the tornados are really no problem up here. -30C is our biggest problem but only for a couple/few weeks every year.

it's not really that scary because 99% (where I live 100%)of the time nothing happens.

*edit* 600 tornados??? Geeeez we get a tornado every 10 years kinda thing.

No, you're cool! Nashville is in a meteorological bubble. Most bad weather don't even think about messin' with us. There was that bad flood last year, but I'm convinced that it was the surrounding areas that got slammed, and all their crappy flood water drained into our wonderful city. We have had tornados every week for the past month or so, but nothing major in our area. Most of the damage has been in Alabama or South Carolina... even St. Louis got it bad last week.

We got hammered in St.L! Usually, it's just rain and tornado warnings but we had one touch down near my home last week and rip an 80 mile path through St. Louis. Even took a chunk out if Lambert Int'l Airport and closed that mofo down along with leveling many a home. No fatalities amazingly. Strange weather year indeed.

Only damage I suffered was a broken heart because the tornado made us run late to see The Black Angels, which sold out right before we arrived. Shitty night, all around!
