So I bought a used Boss SYB-5 off of a very well-known and established user on Talkbass. I had played SYB-5s before, and this one just sounded a bit different, and the modes were all screwed up. Mode 1 sounded right, but the rest seemed jumbled. Like the modes seemed to be in the wrong place. And there was a bit of a volume drop, which just seemed weird to me, since my previous SYB-5 actually boosted. So I had my local repair shop look at it, but since it was a digital pedal and all surface mount, he told me I should just send it into Boss.

So I sent it into Boss last week. I get a call today from a very confused Boss tech, who proceeds to tell me that what I actually have is an SYB-5 casing with an SYB-3 board in it. And that they won't touch it now because it's been modified. So now I have this pedal that I don't want, and which is basically unsellable.

well i have to write it on time to pretend and why the song works
and write a composition and analysis of the track creative musical technical and performance

i wrote most of it about the fantasy and cliche and that the track composition wise attributes to the satire and lavish idea of the song

im just struggling to do it in 1500 words when i can do it like 500

aww, i thought it was going to be more about the sociology behind it and such. : ( don't forgot about the suppper campy video. the track is like, almost ironically cliche too in some parts. that bass is like

better pull out your thesaurus mayne. i bet you could add like 500 words just using stupid 'tone adjectives'

 i pretty much have to rip the song apart and literally write when every little detail happens and why it happens and why that synth works and why this and why that  its infuriating

im pretty much repeating myself in the essay
quote from my own

the string and brass sections add to the illusion and fantasy trying to convey the idea that there successful rock stars with huge recording budgets

 take it a step further and be like however, the cheesiness of the synth tones remains a bittersweet reminder that time to pretend reflects only a dream, a night-time safe haven where they are free to spend their time pretending. i wish i had to write song analysis papers. these are the kind of assignments that beg you to burn a jay before you start.

one time i got high and figured out oracular spectacular was like, a life story. weekend wars is totally about over-doing the rock star dreamz and going to the wilderness to 'find themselves' the way some rock dudes get gurus and shit. if that fits i awno... but it blew my mind when i found out evil S I is really evil $ I.

Major WTF. Practical joker in the Boss factory or dude who desperately wanted to preserve an SYB-3?

I remember my syb-3 was kinda quiet too, but that's pretty crappy. I think that would have to be a factory mess-up because, honestly, what's the motivation for doing something like that if you own both pedals.

There needs to be a smily that looks kind of like the eek one but has a mushroom cloud coming out of his head. That's what I would use right now.

I wrote a pretty sweet paper about Debaser by The Pixies once. Before that, I didn't realize that "Chien Andalusia" was a reference to a film by Dali and the meaning of the whole song is about things not having any meaning/significance.

I was rearranging my board and figured i put my destroyer back on for old time face crushing fun. So i decide to play with it for a bit before i velcro it up and stick it on. Plug it in, set it up... no sound. "Hmmm that weird", methinks, " a shitty cable tis the problem! Fuckin' cheap asshole i am, buyin' dem shitty cords!". so downstairs i go for a new cable. Upon my return i smell something burning, my first thought being that some random shit fell behind my heater, whatevs, that can be dealt with later. So I do it all again, still no sound. I unplug it, and then some smoke trails out of the enclosure, followed by a string of shame worthy words from myself... upon further inspection it was the pot for the starve control :(

At least it's a cheap and easy fix.

i switched the pot with a new one last night with the same results. only it burned up a bit faster
