Really toolish question
I need to know if the Algal Bloom can get some overdrive like tones...or allows the guitar to come through...is it capable of close Fuzzface tones....I feel like such a jabroni asking these things, but someone offered one for a pedal I was trying to sell to get the FUCK and this needs to suffice in the meanwhile. I'll be overdriveless

The Algal can do no wrong... Yes it will do that too, along with everything else...

jabroni!
well, with the gain turned down and the fuzz turned down you can get some od toanz. now its not a singing tree or anything like that but it is very versatile...
here is a low gain clip i did for mudfuzz last year. viewtopic.php?f=142&t=12412&hilit=algal+bloom+low+gain+bass+clip
it is a bass clip through a sunn concert lead head and 412L cab because i am not really a bass player...

sadly no my algal bloom is part of the blooming wall of fuzz so the vids are wildly noisy with some mode one of the phantom arcade and greatest wall thrown in as they are all part of that pedal...
let me get settled in over here and see if i can whip up a quick mp3 and email you...

Re: Really toolish question
as part of my dirtz array i have an ancient MXR Distortion+ and an Algal Bloom. the AB can get pretty close to the D+ sound with the Gain turned down relative to the Bloom level...i have to tweak them to keep them from sounding too similar in fact.

Re: Really toolish question
Try turning the Trim up as well, this is lowering the voltage in the circuit and essentially cleaning it up in certainly ways. Then turn down the gain and bloom as noted. However, with the gain turned down on mine it gets really quiet. No issue there -- the volume knob has tons of volume on tap. If you want to boost more than overdrive, The vol knob will do that..
To be completely honest, the Algal Bloom is the most amazing pedal I've ever had. But it's not an OD, you'll get close, but it will be no Klon
