What record(s) did you buy today?

Post by mauerkraut »

In the spirit of keeping the medium alive, today is Record Store Day. When I usually stroll into my favorite local store there is usually no more than 4-5 people there at once. It was awesome to see huge crowds come out today.

La Dusseldorf - Dusseldorf
Fugazi - Steady Diet of Nothing
(I'm determined to slowly buy all the Fugazi records. Namely 'cause I love the band, but also because I want to support how cheap they make their music.)
El Trio de Omar Rodriguez-Lopez - Ciencia de los Inutiles
With my purchase I got a free 7" of a band called New Salem Witchhunters. 2 live recordings of a garage rock band on a cool teal vinyl with purple and red marble.

That Omar record is fantastic, nice snag.

I went in today just looking for Gorillaz - The Fall and they didn't have it; but I did pick up a used copy of Wish You Were Here.
Ba-boosh.

Megaritual is a sick album as well. I don't like a lot of Omar's solo stuff, but those two are great.

& Keith Buckley of Every Time I Die said that; the band was having a garage sale and they had Planet of Ice going on a boom box and it was skipping all over the place at the beginning of Knights, it was perfect.

Earthless - Live at Roadburn 2xLP. My local record store marked down records 25% that had been sitting on the shelves for a while, so for $13 i just couldn't pass it up. This is some seriously great stuff. Don't fear the jam.

Scored a bunch of really clean Hendrix records to replace the beat to crap copies I've had for years and years. All 2nd and 3rd pressings but really great listening copies.

Also got the Duane Allman Anthology Vol. 2. It's really incredible how many people this guy played with. Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett, Ronnie Hawkins, etc. The guy truly was a legend.

edit: didn't realize how old this thread was! come on guys, let's talk records!
