Here's A Thought...Reverse Your Chain!

Post by Eric! »

Bored with your set-up? Looking for new sounds? Fear not, for I had an idea:

Take your whole chain..and reverse it! And share your thoughts, what you learned, cool tricks or combos, etc. Let's get crazy!

I'll start

Still waiting to get my actual camera back...

Chain: clari(not), rusty box, blargg-o-tron-o-tron, cosmichorus, year4545, second voice
Results: anything into an octaver is awesome, as is anything with random artifacts of modulationg (blargg, clari(not)) into a year4545

2:14 on is awesome, really like the chorus sound.

I did something similar today. I went Sea Machine -> Internet -> Dark Boost which is the opposite of what I would usually do.

Sea Machine -> Internet was like shoegazy cool shit. The Dark Boost on top made it sound like my amp had been fried and barely any sound, except some crackles and a low frequency drone. It was super fun. I used a glass slide barely resting ontop of my bass' G string for a "fretless" sound. That plus the sea machine was odd haha.

I tried to record it, but my camera didn't do a very good job.

Doing this was when I realized that I like my delay earlier in the chain than most people. I randomly put my delay in before all of my modulation and loved the way it sounded.

I like putting at least one fuzz after delay.

I'm thinking of getting a cheap reverb so I can do cheap reverb -> fuzz -> trem -> MOAR REVERB

I'll try this. Though most of my dirt won't be happy.

I like delay before tremolo a lot. Fuzz after delay can be cool too.
