Hmmm... I saw the Torche you posted (which definitely got the thumbs up from me!), and you dropped mention of Baroness (more thumbs up!). Either way, sounds like we're working on similar frequencies at the moment!

i can't wait until i transfer to a new college where i don't have to work 40 hours a week and i can actually start a sludgy stoner band. but it's kinda a confined genre for me. some stuff is somewhere between like/dislike. for example, i can't really decide if i like High On Fire or not.

Yeah, that's one of the things I dig about Torche - they find many interesting ways out of the confines of the genre, while remaining heavy enough to cohere. I love HoF, but can't listen to them all the time (I mean, I can't listen to sludge/doom all the time either) - it's one of those things that, when I want to hear them, nothing else will do.
it blows my mind how beautiful and versatile dave's voice is. i mean everyone in that band who sings can sing very well. but his voice is amazinnnggg.

Desolation Boulevard by Sweet. I recently discovered that this album is awesome. It kinda reminds me of Bowie's Ziggy Stardust, with just a little Man Who Sold the World mixed in there.
