Re: the happiness, excitement, and general contentedness thr
I've made a concerted effort to start waking up around 8 a.m every morning no matter what my plans are that day. I feel much better and I'm getting A LOT of stuff done.

I've found that I'm always happiest and most productive when I put myself on the early bed/rise schedule.
It's just tough when most of my chill time doesn't start until the little one is put to bed.

I can't do early to bed, but getting up early always feels better. Or rather it has to be very early, or very late. Anything in the middle makes me feel legitimately sick. I have to get up either before 6:30 or after 10:00/11:00. Of course since I have work at 8 the latter isn't possible anyway - at least during the week. My sleep cycles all weird though now - and it wasn't great to begin with. I just started working my 3rd job this past week. So now I'm sleeping in 2-3 shifts that range from a half hour or hour, to a few hours.

just write it off as inventory shrinkage or promotional expenses. or testing...yeah, that'll work

Succesfully swapped out the pickups in my Strat today. My first DIY job, and apparently I don't suck as much at soldering as I thought I did.

The acoustic guy my band is touring with this summer just whipped me with the urgency stick tonight, so I've begun trying to book. Haven't e-mailed anyone yet, I'm kinda nervous, but we'll see.

We had our Makerspace grand opening party yesterday. I was hoping we'd see at least 100 people. We are estimating over 500 attended during the day (it ran noon to 7ish, later for some folks.) I manned a circuit-bent toys, guitar pedals, contact mic shakers, and various audio gear table, and the kids had a blast playing with a few cheap toys I had circuit bent the day before. My friend Ross, in red in this pic, stayed up all night building a theremin from scratch for the event. Fun times. Here's a pic, I'm in the blue flannel shirt on the left:

The flame in the picture is a Ruben's tube. Here's a video from a couple months ago when we first built the Rubens tube. That was a huge hit, as well.

Oh, and I forgot the other awesomeness of yesterday. We saw Maritime, which is a group formed from the guys from The Promise Ring and The Dismemberment Plan. (Davey from Cap'n Jazz & The Promise Ring.) http://www.last.fm/music/Maritime
Picture I took towards the end when he was playing acoustic:

The bass player is awesome, and he was just playing the P-bass into an Ampeg, unmiced and uneffected. Davey tends to play without effects, too, just Tele into a loud clean Fender Deville and gets all his tone out of strumming at 200bpm or something crazy, which I realized I can't do.

I've heard several people here mention these Makerspaces...but, what are they?
