Look up the dead easy dirt project on here. Super simple ic fuzz. The bass fuss is another easy one, though I'm not 100% sure all of its parts are available at the Shack.

radioshack stock is too unpredictable and way overpriced. desperate for a pot, I tried two local shacks, and they only ones they had were 5k 3 inch d shaft...they had about 30.

If you've got a dremel, those shafts are a cinch to cut down

And if you have some Bondo and patience, you can convert the D-shaft to round/smooth.
There's also the somewhat-famous Radio Shack Fuzz by Andy Carrell:

It's a loooonnng thread, but everything you need is in the first post.

This exact bazz fuss was the first circuit I ever built. I think it was before you were even a member here, I just found it in a Google search and liked it better than all the other layouts!

so this is eyelet board?

i've never seen it in person before. if a place carries perf/vero board, would they likely have eyelet boards?

Wow, that looks familiar!
Yes, that is eyelet board. There is a tutorial on making them here:

Mostly they are used (in much larger sizes) for building amplifiers. They work pretty much the same way as turret boards.

Yep, that's the stuff! As far as I know you have to put the stuff together yourself. You can get everything you need at turretboards.com.
