Looking for a Looper
So hopefully this thread hasn't been done to death, since I have a special request:
Are there any good loopers that allow you to sort of multitrack record live? I'm somewhat familiar with what boss has to offer, and I do some basic looping on my Memory Man w/ Hazarai, but I'm looking for something that has separate buttons for separate loops. Basically, I want to be able to record a loop on one track, then be able to play it back or mute it with its own button. It'd be great to have a pedal that has several of these buttons for separate loops, almost like a sampler for guitar.
I've looked a little into the boomarang and the digitech jamman. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Re: Looking for a Looper
Ahhh, just when I thought I was done looking for a looper as well I am on the market for just something you are looking for.
As far as the something that is separate and spaced out for laying down tracks, the two looping units that come off of the top of my head that I will in my case be looking at are the Boss RC50 and the Boomerang III
Layout wise the RC 50 is a lot simpler to figure out but the Boomerang has a smaller foot print but a weird button layout.
I have used the lower models of the Boss line both the RC 2 and RC 20XL. I didn't bond with them like I though I would.

The boomerang with the latest update will do this. I'm thinking about selling mine too...

Yeah the RC-50 is effing huge and a little impractical but I guess I'd consider it.
So with the boomerang I could record loop 1, then a separate loop 2 and loop 3 and be able to mute loop 1 with the other two still going?
Let me know if you decide to sell. Maybe we could work somethin' out.

2880 looks cool for sure, but it seems like it would involve a lot of bending down and fiddling.... I want foot triggers for on-the-fly type of stuff
Edit: Oh, I see it has a foot switch too. What makes it preferable to the other options? No one to weigh in on the digitech?
Double Secret Edit: Holy shit. They should just use this video to sell the 2880:

Yea the boomerang can do it a couple different ways up too 4 loops that are totally independent to each other. Or one master loop that determines the loop length of the other loops to make parts sync up. Send me a pm if you are interested in the boomerang.

The real pinnacle of live-looping is the Looperlative. http://www.looperlative.com/
My friend Steve Lawson uses it with his bass, and it is awesome. http://www.stevelawson.net/faqqacv/

Re: Looking for a Looper
And then you've really gotta add on the cost for an 8-button, two rocker MIDI foot controller board to be able to play it live.. It's worth it, though!
You can roll your own Looperlative-like device using the SooperLooper software on a laptop + a MIDI foot controller, though. http://sonosaurus.com/sooperlooper/

Yeah, a little out of my price/practicality range, but cool nonetheless
