Got a few Digitech Grunge pedals for a project but need help

Post by mmelnick »

So i've been using Digitech Grunge pedals for around 15 years now and love the way they sound with my Mesa Boogie MKIII, however the switches on them are just terrible and totally unreliable so i've bought about 10 over time. I lost a few but I still have 4, 2 still in their cases and 2 opened up when someone tried to "fix" them. Anyway, i've always wanted to repair them and get them back in action, but what I really want to to do take all of them out of their cases and either put all 4 into one case with 4 switches and/or 4 momentary switches and 16 knobs, or 2 Grunges each in a case with 2 switches, 2 momentary switches, and 8 knobs. Is there anyone here who'd possibly be into doing this project either for free just for the fun of it, or for a reasonable price? And if thats a ridiculous request, does anyone know someone they could recommend? I'd greatly appreciate it.

This will be so badass! With four different switches you can have different settings on each one cued up and ready to go. I would do this for you if I felt confident that I wouldn't screw it up!

Wouldn't it be easier to just shove the hot soldering iron directly in your ear and wiggle it about a bit?
For 40c you can get a new switch from smallbear...

I have one that won't fully switch off.... dunno why. I can't bring myself to care enough to fix it. >.<

Have you considered just having someone clone one? It'll be expensive at first, but you wouldn't have to keep buying them.

And wasn't one of Danelectro's crappy fab pedals a grunge clone? Maybe that would be a good option for your rehouse experiment.

I'm not buying any more! They finally decided to clone the Boss switch and make it metal and mechanical and it actually works.

I just had them lying around. Gotta do something with them.

They make a simple 2 lug on/off stomp switch that would prob work just fine.

Yeah, nix the momentary tactile button and use a nonlatching footswitch like the nice Carlings that Drasp puts on DL4's. In fact, this might be something for Drasp, but I think he's pretty busy. Wouldn't hurt to email him and ask!

Cool i'll look for him and give him a shout.

I wanted the momentary switches because i'm gonna use this for a desktop device for noise to to be able to blast sporatically on 4 distortions rhythmically might be cool.

3 years later and the pedals are still in a big box in the basement. I wish i could find someone to take all the guts and transfer them to one enclosure.
