lol. partly, perhaps, but more importantly, there is a general opinion that MIJ and CIJ are known for being better quality than the MIM Fenders.

It's definitely a quality thing for me, never been too happy with the MIM guitars I've owned, not for the price at least. I ordered the blue Mustang Special today with my friend's employee discount, should be here in a couple days.
On a side note, he had some trouble finding it in the GC system and called Fender to track down item #'s. They said the first batch is in stock but the earthquake caused the rest to get lost, shipping containers full of Fenders floating around the ocean. Something like a 5 month lead time after these are gone, on the Mustangs at least. We didn't inquire about the rest of the line.

Nope.
If these had single coils I'd be more interested.
Fender is putting hunmbuckers in everything lately though.
I do not understand.
EDIT:
I just more mean I really like single coils. Nothing wrong with change or whatever, but a single coil option would be nice.

Re: Fender Pawn Shop Series
Makes sense really...most guitar companies have models heavily based around humbuckers. Open your average guitar mag, all humbuckers.
Flip on a music video (if they still play them) all humbuckers. Here a song on rock radio it was probably recorded with a guitar with humbuckers.
The internet is a funny thing, I was floored when I found out how many single coil users there were in these silly effects communities.
I was also floored by how many were in U2/church bands but w/e.
Almost all of the guitarists I know personally all use humbuckers.
The only single coils are our beater cheapo squiers that we leave at eachothers houses

Re: Fender Pawn Shop Series
I'd thought for a long time that I was among a small minority of guitarists who hates humbuckers, but judging from the tele love around here I'm not such an oddity. I had a Gibson Les Paul Studio which had hot humbuckers, and it was easy to get a typical 'heavy' sound from it, but i found it to be a very generic and boring sound after a while. I don't want to get all TGP and say that single coils are more dynamic and whatnot, but I find it a lot easier to get my own distinctive tone from single coils. With the eq set right I can be just as, if not more, heavy with my Tele and a good fuzz pedal through my Fender Deluxe Reverb as any Gibson through a Marshall.

Re: Fender Pawn Shop Series
Plenty of people like single coils. I think it's fairly even distribution. Remember that most Strats and Teles, even the Fender models, come with single coils. I'm pretty sure that the number of PRS guitarists out there trying to be U2, Creed, or a church band is far outweighed by the number of guitarists rocking a Strat. (Nothing wrong with a PRS, it just seems to be attached to those kinds of guitarists.) The guitarists on these effects forums more likely than not rock something other than a Strat, though: Jags, Jazzmasters, Mustangs, weirder guitars, as well as the P90 Gibson stuff, and then the usual distribution of Strats, Teles, and Les Pauls.
I think the humbucker being perceived as more powerful is still in play, even though that was only true back when you're comparing the PAF humbuckers to Fender single coils in the 60's. Nowadays, they can wind a single coil with a magnet to be just as powerful in output.
The real strength of humbuckers comes from the hum-canceling, and unfortunately a lot of the really cheap single coils hum, whine, and hiss enough that they turn off musicians to single coils.

Re: Fender Pawn Shop Series
i really like the blue mustang thang
BUT i'm not really much into twoHB guitars, so
i haven't played one that sounded good on a clean channel (to me...) and i even played this awesome PRS Custom 24 my friend has... maybe it was the M/B F50 but it was a bit meh on clean channel - not snappy nuff, i like my funk to jump out of the amp and bitchslap you like mad
i'm probably too much of a funkyness/glassiness-fenderish-tone-inspired kinda guy

Re: Fender Pawn Shop Series
I personally like humbuckers, especially for how quiet they are with high gain pedals. I know from previous threads that most people around here seem to prefer single coils but I like them both pretty equally, just depending on what sound I'm going for and what pedals I'm using.
As far as prs guitars go, I know they're nice but I hate them. They look stupid, have stupid finishes and are generally played by douchey lame modern rock bands. I used to subscribe to guitar player and I swear every month there was an interview of some lame band that had one guitarist who rocked a les Paul and another guitarist who played prs because "it gets the Paul sound but it doesn't weigh as much" gimme a ducking break.

Re: Fender Pawn Shop Series
when I switched to SC I had to sell my amp (lonestar). the guitar just didn't have enough output. the clean boost helped a lot but then I realized I just didn't like that amp with that guitar. I think a lot of people pass them up because of the two main problems, hum, not enough output to get distortion on some amps. hum is just about shielding, ground loops, clean power, flourescent lights. output can be solved with a SHO or in my case creation audio labs. I found the rocker30 head and the hotrod 50 plus to be my favorite amps for this 96 strat. now i just need moneys.

Re: Fender Pawn Shop Series
the silence is why i loaded DiMarzio Chopper in the bridge of my tele... but i have to admit i'd pretty much be cool with noiseless SC. i don't really like using it for clean chords, but arpeggios are sometimes nice with it, sharp, agressive...
whatever... i think that this fall, i'll have enough money to consider the blue Pawn Shop thangy... we'll see
btw Orange AD30 sounded like shit to me with HBs, but those singlecoils make it SCREAM

orange + SC = win
anyone thats played them knows the deal.
BTW I really not a big fan of people buying SC guitars and immediately swapping out pups for stacked coils/ mini HB. I just feel like its a band aid for having things the way you really want it. if its got a pic guard, you can always put HB in it.
