They're about $800 on ebay, if you can find one.

Yah, a small stoen would be a good alternative, or amybe even two of them? There are smaller mutron phasers too.

A cheap alternative is the Boss PS-3: I know it's digital and a boss, but I love mine and have put it head to head with a bunch of different phasers, it has rise and fall modes plus a step mode that really does awesome things with fuzz (terrible awesome)

You can usually find em used for $60.00

If it's the Mutron BiPhase in use, I would suggest the EHX Polyphase as an Alternative, both are/were Optical Phasers with atleast 6 stages.

PH-3, PS-3 is the pitch shifter

Scruffie - yeah, Polyphase can do amazing slow deep phasing
I make pedal demos as East Stomp Boutique - http://www.youtube.com/c/eaststompboutique

When it comes to the Pumpkins it's all Mutron and EHX as far as I know. The cost of a BiPhase is out of this world, and a vintage Electric Mistress seems to be increasing too. Like Cody and Aen already stated, I can also get similar results with my Whetstone... which is a uber-modded Small Stone.
