I'm really stoked! I got the full kit with the enclosure so I wouldn't botch something and make it all ugly after putting all the soldering work into it. This is my first like ultra big kit so I'm kind of nervous but I'm taking my time. I started it at like 3 and I'm just now getting to the LEDs and other diodes.. I'm a slow solderdude but I like to triple check stuff.
buy the PCB and everything else from mouser $120 total. but no plexiglass or case. buy the complete kit from casper is like $300 and the fully assembled is like $360. if you spend 12 hours on in then your working for $5/hour. and then your not saving money at all cause you could just buy it and work a real job. my point is that its another $180 for plexiglass and a battery holder. as much as I want it, I'm not paying that for plexiglass. and why such a huge markup on resistors. there really is no middle of the road option to get the plexi and still not get raped for resistors. he says not to use off board pots for fear of it being noisy but there is still no shielding on the fully assembled version so I dont know how exaggerated that is.
