A lot of what I was going to mention has already been listed oddly enough, but I'll put 'em here and clarify anyway.

Flower Travellin' Band - Made In Japan, which is probably their darkest album.
Boris - Feedbacker or Dronevil
The Crazy World of Arthur Brown - Self-titled
J.A. Seazer - Shintokumaru
Alice Cooper - Pretties For You - People tend to forget the EARLY Alice Cooper stuff like this. It's comparable to The Mothers of Invention in its absurdity, but not nearly as tight/intricate.
Can - Tago Mago
Comus - First Utterance

I don't know if drella from the DE forums is on ILF, but his band is pretty dark. Maybe more "post-rock/drone" than "psychedelic," but trippy none-the less.

I would say anyone playing at the Austin Psyche Fest... We LOVE it dark and weird down here...

http://www.austinpsychfest.com/#/lineup/full-lineup

Dubkitty had some good stuff too... Gong, Spaceman 3, Jesus and Mary Chain, Echo and the Bunnymen... Generally anything druggy and hippy has been described as psychedelic over the years but there's a lot out there of all styles...

unownunown wrote:download embryonic for sure. a lot of the tracks have a similar feel, my favorites being watching the planets, silver trembling hands, the ego's last stand, the sparrow looks up at the machine, etc. i don't think the flaming lips other stuff sounds that much like embryonic does. embryonic might be the best lips album, imo and i honestly think that some of the tracks on embryonic are really similar to the second half of mgmt's oracular spectacular, so listen to future reflections, of birds moons and monsters, and the handshake while you're at it. future reflections is probably one of my favorite songs like, ever.

Thanks for the heads up, will check that out!

This a good one from here

I really need to get an album from these guys. Every song I've heard is great.

Being messed up, now HOW about Jacula: just about the whole album reciting, church organ and some sporadic fuzz guitar on an ambient track with rain. Super creepy. Bad trip -stuff!  and decades ahead the 90's Black Metal shoot off branch of Dark Ambient.

OH, and, as a super bonus: I just noticed that Antonius Rex (the man behind Jacula back then) has officially announced the release of the long rumored new Jacula material to be released in 2011 March. :omg: :omg: :omg:

Not really the old sort of "psychedelic" but kinda matches the description, it's pretty weird.
and this one too.

Lot of really great stuff in here.

Let's see.

I wonder if you might like the Fantomas album, Suspended Animation?
it's definitely way more metal. But it's "avant garde metal" so it's definitely out there.

Someone had already posted a collaboration with her, but I want to stress the awesomeness of Zola Jesus once again:

There are these guys:

A whole scene around these. There is also Pocahaunted, but I don't really know them. These are somehow connected too:

Something else people-wise but similar in sound:

Quieter:

Damn loud but also trippy:

To me personally noisy droney stuff is the trippiest music. But that's probably not what you're looking for. If I am mistaken, definitely check out Imperial Distortion by Kevin Drumm and At all ends by Yellow Swans.

Krautrock:

And of course the best Krautrock band:
