Mixed feelings towards it...the first three songs are pretty good and there's another one or two in there that I kinda like, but some of them are like "Hey Wata I just got FL Studio, you wanna try it out?"

And some of them feel like anime openings.

Oh, Boris. You crazy kids. I do really like the album cover.

I like... I think if they just did the same shit over and over it would be boring... I like when they do something against what they "are suppose to" :idk: The J-rock/anime element is still better them most bands... I almost think that is the point

Yeah, I agree with that. The album isn't BAD, but it didn't blow me away. I applaud them for going in a way different direction while still retaining the "Borisy" feel. But still I'd rather have something in the vein (LOL PUN) of Flood or Feedbacker over stuff like that Ian Astbury collaboration (wtf?).

Been meaning to get into this band. I might sound like a noob, but what is a good starting album?

If people only have one Boris album then it is most likely Pink. It's not a bad starting point. Their sound varies from album to album though, so each one brings a different feel. They have so many collaborations though and some albums have totally different songs depending on the region they were released in...

My personal favorites are Feedbacker, Flood, Amplifier Worship, and Rainbow. Those first three choices are a little more towards the drone/doom side than Rainbow, which is heavy psychedelic rock-style.

New Album is generic J-Pop/Rock. That's about it. The only reason anyone cares about this album is because it's Boris that made it. That being said, it does have some half-decent songs on it.

It's a funny thing, hand a metal/sludge fan any poppy album and they feel glad to explain 10 reasons that it sucks, then bands like Ulver and Boris put out poppy songs and it's BRILLIAAANNNNT.

I really dug the She's So Heavy split with Ai Aso, and I also live Ai Aso and poppy music. I just don't really think New Album is anything original in the least. :idk:

i've been hooked on em since i got a copy of akuma no uta.

i don't really listen to j-pop/rock, but i don't really mind the direction they went for this album. it's an interesting departure.
