Most vintage or just older stuff isn't going to fit my req's, I don't think. Even the old 50's/60's 5 watt tube practice amps are waaay too loud for my current situation. Because my 5 watt Epi Valve Jr (now sold) nearly got me evicted :no:

I'm about ready to just throw in the towel and stop caring about amps, guitars, etc. Very frustrating.

It pains me to see you so frustrated over gear,...but I empathize, so perhaps some unsolicited advice..

Have you checked out;

http://zvexamps.com/amp_view.html

I know it doesn't have a line out,...but may get quiet enough with a 1x12,...or you may be able to use an attenuator like the THD (that zach recommends in the literature in the above link) for a line out. Maybe even use the THD with a head cab combo you're into.

I've never really been impressed by those zvex amps. They do one tone that I guess you could call Marshall-ish.

I have considered the attenuator. For all the bad things people says an attenuator does to tone, if it lets me play when I otherwise could not, it'd be useful. Weber makes an attenuator with a headphone tap and line out, which is perfect for my needs - headphones on my head and line out into my computer for recording / looping.

This isn't a "I quit" type of thing. Just frustrated that I'm limited by both my lack of playing ability and my gear right now. The situation of not being able to play an amp doesn't help. :(

I think attenuators kick ass. My orange has one built in and it really is useful when you can't have a 200 watt amp at ten but want the sound [ish] of one :)*

I tried it. works.

On the other hand: Have you ever heard about these guys:

I have one and it kicks ass. The line out is great, you can switch off the speaker if you want. I don't know if it's in your price range though. But these fellas are definitely worth it.

They don't seem to distribute them anywhere near here. The closest dealer where I could possibly play one in person is 500 miles away..

i was supposed to go out with a friend tonight but she's not answering my texts. if she didn't want to do something she should say no initially instead of being all like, in betweeny. no won't hurt my feelings. i'm a big girl. it's really annoying when she's like 'yes' 'if i don't work' 'maybe' for most of the week/portrays general vibes of wanting to hang out, then cancels at the LAST minute because then i can't find anyone else to hang out with because it's the last minute and i didn't bother making other plans because she was all maybe. :grumpy:

I know exactly how that feels. My goddamn bandmates can never make a decision on when to have bandpractice, so I have to keep my entire schedule open on the off chance that they decide they can practice. Even if we plan ahead, 19/20 times they will reschedule at the absolute last minute, so, then it's too late for me to make plans with anybody else so I just hang out at my house alone. If you can do something say so, if not, say you can't so we can live our fucking lives.

Lame. I hate when people just completely avoid the situation rather than just taking two seconds to be like "Sorry, I can't hang out tonight".

Hmmm... :idea:

I was supposed t othis and that, like, go see my old band mate I haven't seen in six months. And see his family. Had planned rehearsals for tomorrow, which isn't that easy when drummer boy is very busy putting out a few albums this spring... And I was supposed to help out a dearly beloved old friend with his moving...

But guess what the doctor had to say: 'no way You're going anywhere, You're no longer in any kind of hurry - Youve got such a horrible case of bronchitis.' And I hate to realize she's right and I should have figured it out on monday, so I could have taken sick leave from work and gotten back on my feet by tomorrow. :facepalm: :rant: :barf:
