loud buzzing

i have this old vox valvetronix that i use to practice with when my valve jr is at my friend's place, but recently all i get when i turn it on is this horribly loud white noise.

i can't change the volume or stop it short of turning the amp back off.

i don't really know anything about how amps really work, so can i get some help here?

Valvetronix are a modeling solid state amp that used a 12AX7 preamp tube to warm up the signal. I would try to swap the tube first. If that's not it, you'll have to contact Vox. Unfortunately, modeling solid state amps aren't typically something that an amp tech can just fix.
