Guilty Pleasures, I Know You've Got 'Em!

Post by theactionindex »

Lately I've been listening to a lot of music I feel like I would be too embarassed to tell my buddies about for fear of relentless teasing, and I figure pretty much everyone's got that band(s) that they love but are too ashamed to fess up to.

WHAT'S YOURS YA'LL?!

Here's my current guilty pleasure playlist:

Closure In Moscow - First Temple
Imogen Heap - Ellipse
Architects - Hollow Crown (so cheesy  )
The Exit - New Beat
Circle Takes the Square - As the Roots Undo

P.S. I know there was already a thread like this in General Discussion, but I thought it would be interesting to hear everyone's music specific guilty pleasures.

Dude if your buds can't hang with that record, tell them to sack up! Everything about that album is genius and heavy.

Also, I think The Black Parade is an excellent album.

I tried explaining to them the error of their ways, but no such luck. I can't wait til the 3,000 year wait for their next album to come out is over.

I have a sick love for Eurobeat. The cheesier the better, but really, it's all horrifically bad.
But stuff like happy hardcore or basically any song with super high-pitched vocals, I'm like "man fuck that cheesy shit". Don't ask me...IT'S DIFFERENT! :idk:

Eurobeat is the best music to blast from your car at 3AM. Gets me so pumped up! It's like listening to Guitar Wolf.
Eurobeat is great because there are really only like three different people making it but they use a million pseudonyms. Also, roughly half of all song titles include "bazooka".

As the Roots undo is a classic album that no one should be ashamed of at all.

Guilty...
The Like - Release Me - it's not all good, but some of it is really catchy
ICP - the Great Maleniko - cannot deny the albums' dark beats and hilarious skits
Bloodhound Gang - Hooray for Boobies - pretty classic album with hilarious lyrics and fun songs
Korn - s/t thru Take a Look in the Mirror - They just did it for me for awhile, it was new at the time...and once they called it numetal it was dull.

I have some friends that love Sum 41, but I also have some that curse anything near mainstream/pop punk. But fuck, "88" is an awesome song.

Sum 41 is to Stalin as Blink 182 is to Hitler. Saying you like one of them is completely irreparable. I know I was young, but I fucking hated that whole late 90's early 00's skater-punk scene. Just a bunch of whiny, preppy douches trying to act anti-establishment. "LULZ let's go skateboard on the library steps and watch Jackass on MTV, but first we gotta go to Chad's. He's gonna chug three mountain dews! It's gonna be off tha hook! Lol, he might die or somethin' from all the caffeine."

But it wasn't the caffeine the got Chad. It was the sugar. Poor, stupid kid was diabetic.

I'll add that I enjoy the songs "Love Today" "Big Girl(You are Beautiful)" and "Lollipop" by Mika. I'm a sucker for disco-style octave jumpin' bass.

That's pretty bold. I was nowhere close to that scene at all...never liked Dew. Dude Ranch is classic.

Regardless of how the rest of the album is, "Follow the Water" is a sweet song.

As for me:
