yep, from what i was able to find on a not so in depth google search was that the hamer "prototype" was made for a little bit during the early/mid eighties. 83-85? hamer re-introduced them as the phantom in 97 and built them for about a year in 98/early 99. then they changed it to the phantom custom so my model was only built for a year!
not sure what sort of pups were in the prototypes but the pups in this are definitely duncans. the bucker might be a jb4. i have a jb4 in one of my lp copies and it sounds very similar. the bucker in the hamer has a touch more gain tough. the single sounds great! i think it is more of a tele style single but i have never owned a strat so...

yep, single on top and bucker on bottom. three way toggle so single is the neck and bucker is the bridge. sounds awesome with both pups on!!!
