I agree. I might have stolen my wife's amp so that I can have my board hooked up in stereo. :whateva:

What I don't get is why most stereo pedals don't have stereo inputs?

AAaaaaaahhhahhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!! That is the great mystery of the past 100 years! Every time I see it I die a little more inside.

Come on you friggin boutiquers! Give me something to believe in!!! No I'm not talking to you Poison!

Oh, and Ryan? He's doing it right.

Ryan said that the ultimate tremolessence will have stereo inputs, so I'd assume the rest of the ultimate line will as well. The only problem for me will be deciding between the ultimate tremolessence and cosmichorus come birthday pedal time (assuming both are ready by late september).

If he does this with a sunny day delay I may have to cave and sell my flanger hoax to get one!

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I knew within 30 seconds that the Deluxe Memory Boy was not for me. I *hated* that thing.

I almost got one of those last week. I'm sure it's awesome, and I do plan to try one out at some point.

It sounds really good. The tone control is awesome and having a built-in loop is really something special. I don't understand why all delays don't have this feature.

oh i'm glad i didn't buy the DMB myself then  :thumb: i was considering it, but seemed... don't know... phony... also - if you can't rock a delay pedal without tap tempo, you fail in my book haha   no offense to anyone here, of course

I was lucky - Kayzer sent me a PM and offered me his Faux Tape Echo - that made the purchase really easy, because he is from EU, too :) i love it - it sounds FAT :) thanks to the Tone knob (that's really interactive with Repeats knob) you can dial in a lot of different sounds, the modulation is also very nice (triggering the modulation with the strenght of your playing is really clever, i love that they thought about something like that). Definitely try it, but i can't say that you'll be as amazed as i am since you've got El Cap ;)

btw just interested - has anyone here compared it side to side with Brigadier? Modernage?

I do have both of 'em here. I don't feel like tearing apart 2 boards to get them together for a play date at the moment, but I will get back to you as soon as I am able. I might be a bit busy tomorrow, so if I can't find the time I will do my best to a/b them on Wednesday.

It's funny that I've never compared them side by side. They both sound fantastic though! I'm looking forward to being apart of an orgy of delay!

Today I used my El Capistan with my band for the first time and it was :!!!: :!!!: :!!!:

It's pretty much my new favorite pedal ever. It sounds so good in my band.

Ok, I messed around with them a little bit the other day. I feel like I'm going to be really bad at describing this... but here we go! haha.

Starting with the basics, obviously the EC is modeled after tape delay, and the Brig after analog delay w/ modulation (think Deluxe Memory Man). I feel like I could get similar "tones" from them. I think the reason why they sound similar is because I like my delay to sound a specific way... I would say a little more dark and back in the mix. Even if I have the mix turned way up, I'll set it so it's not completely overpowering. Even at their most extreme settings, I usually like to set my effects tastefully. :snax: I feel like I can have the mix set higher on the EC, where if I have the mix set past 12:00 on the Brig they get to be a little to much for my taste. I'm sure I could adjust the filter so the delays don't have as much attack to them. I didn't spend too much time tweaking them.

Now the "feel" of each is not the same at all. The EC is awesome at doing the tape "wash" where you delays are repeating infinitely without swallowing your dry guitar signal. I love playing with this type of setting. Extremely celestial/ethereal. Very good for shoegaze and post rock. The Brig is better for pulling off the Edge style... especially when taking advantage of the tap subdivisions (ie: triplets, dotted 1/8th notes). That's something that the EC can't do. Although the multi-head mode can do some rhythmic delays, it can't subdivide your taps. Another difference I've noticed is when holding down the tap switch to make the delay self-oscillate, the EC does it in a way that makes people think "wow that's pretty cool." Good for getting that Radiohead out of your system. The Brig on the other hand makes you think "omgowiegowa;sdg!! is it going to destroy my amp??!!?!?!" It gets out of control a lot quicker than the EC.

hmmm, what else is there? Oh, the spring reverb on the EC is awesome! No reverb on the Brig. The modulation on the Brig is really good. Usable sounds at any settings. Still does the pitch shifting like you would find on most analog delays w/ mod, but it doesn't get ridiculous like the DMM can, or especially like the Memory Boy. The EC can get some modulation-y sounds with the Wow & Flutter knob, but it's not the same as using actual modulation. Also, no looping on the Brig.

I think the main thing is what do you need your delay to do? Ya know? There are enough parameters to mess with that you could dial these 2 delays to a common ground tonally if you wanted to. But your not going to be able to get the Brig to sound like an Echoplex, or the EC sound like a Deluxe Memory Man. Both are fantastic, and I wouldn't mind using either on my board. Not much of a preference either way, but I do enjoy having the spring reverb on the El Cap.

Let me know if you have any specific questions, or if this helps out at all. I can start to ramble, and not even know if I'm really saying anything you are interested in hearing. haha.

Perfect description... I really love the "washed out" sound you were talking about being such a tasteful guy myself too... The Tape Crinkle and Wow and Flutter get the most action from me though, haha crinkle... Spring reverb is great though I keep it low it's a great bonus... I want another for all my non guitar stuff cause right now the El Cap and the Dead Hipster are my always on pedals...
