no offense, but i'm not hearing it. perhaps there are other sounds in there that don't appear in the demo, but what i'm hearing is a somewhat hairier-than-normal oscillating fuzz with a lot of settings that, though they vary, all break up in a similar manner, grainy and Devi-ish in the top end.

To me the best part about the gnome is having the gate on a knob and the eq. Most fuzzies really lack this control which makes the gnomertron easy to dial the exact the right fuzz tone. The circuit does do its own thing in different shades but it does it very well.

It should also be noted that its bass friendly with the clean blend and different pickup friendly with the gain trimmers on the side. These guys can be used to change the tone of the gnome but I mainly use it to set my output the way I want depending on if I'm using single coils, humbuckers, or a active bass.

Sorry if it's a stupid question but, what's the deluxe got that the original don't?
And uh, didn't you say you did figure out how to give the gnome LED eyes?

Three knobs on the right side:
Knob 1: Select the diode of Diode 1 (rotary encoder)
Knob 2: Select the diode of Diode 2 (also rotary encoder)
Knob 3: Starve (lower the voltage reaching the fuzz circuit)

So, since the diodes are individually selectable, the Diode 1 and Diode 2 toggles change between (less clipping/no clipping/more clipping)

Gnomeratron might be the ultimate in a new breed of pedals that I would dub the Fuzz Workstation. Other examples I can think of would be the Dice Works Fuzz Epic and the Devi Ever Workhorse.

So has anyone compared the Gnomeratron VTF to the Black Arts Pharaoh?

How do they stack up?

agreed.
except for a few points :/
price puts the vtf above the other two as it's significantly cheaper
vtf is readily available (dunno what happened to dice works :( and the workhorse, last I heard, wasn't coming around again any time soon)
vtf has had no problems at all that I've heard of or experienced (and I'm hard on my pedals), thats not a fuzz epic comparison if you catch my drift <.<

I've got a Muff Diver that I love....and I have wanted a Fuzz Epic forever.....but maybe you are implying the Epics have not been so reliable? Maybe the VTF can be my Fuzz Epic.
