i..... just found a useful noise box. i love all the wacky stuff, but this thing is crazy weird violent, but in a more predictable way. this and the Year4545 make sweet love to me. and i'm a happy little clam boy.

Here is what I've been up to this evening.

I did a mock up of the standard Jazz Bass control layout without the pickups and output jack. Not sure what value cap I should have for a JB setup but these were just random leftover supplies that Darrin had laying around that he hooked me up with for practicing.



Kind of an ugly solder joint here.



I feel like I'm a little more satisfied with this one.



Tomorrow I'm going to head up to radioshack and pick up some perfboard or see if they have any sort of cheapo DIY something or other to get some more practice on,...probably order some cable and connectors from EWI/Audiopile to wire up my pedalboard with soldered cables (and ditch the George L's),...and order a CB1 from GGG. Hooray for new hobbies/business prospect.

Oh I go to work for Darrin on Wednesday . I'm already thinking about the specs for my production Huff bass,...definitely going to be getting a birdseye maple fingerboard if Darrin's into it.

Hey, Warwick.Hoy! Mind if I make a couple of suggestions?

Turn the iron temperature up. It looks like it's down at like 500. Put it at like 650-750. You'll make the solder joints faster and not melt the wires quite as bad. Also, strip just enough wire to get through the hole on the pot.

The thing that rotates inside those 16mm pots are plastic, so be careful when grounding to the pot. I just file down a corner of the pot and solder to that one small spot. You can see it in this gut shot: http://www.flickr.com/photos/51572438@N05/5448315087/

Also, is that plumbing flux? You wanna make sure to use rosin flux if you need extra flux.
