VOX AC30: which one??
dont know if this has been hashed out here, but which AC30 is the one to get? i've been considering selling some stuff to fund this, but havent had a chance to compare any of them.
when the latest AC30c2 came out, i was under the impression this was a HUGE improvement over the previous cc series and pretty close to a vintage AC30 (minus the ss rectifier). but lately ive been hearing mixed things. i know regardless, i would want one with some kind of blue speakers or have them put in. theres an AC30cc with celestion blues on TGP for $1000... seems like a decent deal. or is it only worth getting an older AC30? then theres also something like the winfield thomas cyclone.

That seems like a lot. You can get cc2s for around 500, and I don't think those speakers are $250 a pop.
Or just get this!

You're better off with Scumnicos than the Celestion Blues
The new handwired ones are supposed to be pretty good. I wouldn't touch a CC though.

No EF86 though

I probably should point out it's an early 90's 6TB, rather than an old 60's 'proper' top boost

As far as I know it's a Marshall built one from about '94, sometime in it's life it had some old drake transformers fitted and a few treble caps switched

Re: VOX AC30: which one??
I don't know really, I've never really looked at the differences between the 6TB's, I just got it because it was a great deal on ebay, but if you're looking for an AC30, I'd go 90s TB or Handwired, but if you can find a CC for cheap don't be scared, they are really good amps lurking under a treble-cap snip
