Bassists,...frustrating the rest of the band since 1951.

My girlfriend's been singing with this originals band for the last couple months. They're writing new material and I can't believe how much drama there is. All of these guys have played in other bands and currently play and other bands, so in theory they should know better.

I'm hoping it fails, she's too busy with as it is and I hate the music (she doesn't really like it that much either). They've (bass player and guitarist) had more "disagreements" in the band in the two months then my band has had in 3 years.

I was in a band that had constant arguments between the drummer, guitarist and keyboardist. Granted they were younger than me and were acquaintances since high school. The moment it turned into too much bitching and me being forced to take a side,...I bowed out. I will not choose sides and I am too old to be dragged into HS drama.

Luckily there is no animosity between me and my current bandmates. I don't think Mecha Shiva has ever had a disagreement and we've been jamming for over a year.

Personally music is my life. Even when I was working I never defined myself as a cook,...I'm a bassist; then a husband; then a worker bee.

in a way that he seems to be like "yeah... music is here, i'm here, whatever... it works somehow, we're cool together" but he doesn't really LIVE for it i'd say

It's a funny beast. Me personally as a bassist I let the real musicians (at least in my straightforward band) do the writing,...then I try to put a great grove underneath it all. Sometimes that means playing the root,...sometimes that means playing busy lines,...sometimes that means playing (or not playing) a lot of rests. I lend a little voice leading support if they need some direction. That's not as fulfilling as the improvisational stuff I do with Mecha Shiva but it's fun

monday he told me, he gets really inspired by Trevor Dunn to play more... i almost facepalmed... i'd say noone in our band overplays it, but sometimes, he's getting really close

lol. i went there and checked out the Mazda6, it was SUPER clean, really nice condition. drove it and ir was hellza gutless for a 6 cylinder. when we got back to their place after test driving it and looked under the hood i was like, "well, i'm NOT a car guy, and i don't know shit about engines, but you guys had it listed on CL as a v6. there's.... 1, 2, 3, 4 spark plugs. that's a 4 cylinder. AND it's inline. not a v shape."

dude was like, "no, no, it IS a v6."

i thanked them for their time and told them i'd think about it. i don't think they were trying to be shady. i think they honestly thought it WAS a 6. and after you point out something super obvious with the FREAKING EVIDENCE RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOUR FACE, and they deny it, not really any point in arguing.

's cool. i cound a 2004 Ford Tauras in AMAZING shape that's crazy fast and super comfortable. it's like 3 years younger than the Manza6 i was looking at and about a $G cheaper. more pedals for ME!
