Someone school me on organs

Post by foomanfat »

Alright people. I am really interested in purchasing an electric organ, but I have no idea what I'm looking for.
I'm in the beginner area, but I'd still like to have a decent instrument.
Is there anything I should look at in particular? Preferably in the not bank breaking department.

P.S. If there come a myriad of anatomy jokes, I will burn this mother to the ground.

check craigslist if you dont mind size, people just give them away there. the micro korg and old yamahas from the 80's have good organ tones too.

Size is an issue. I'd like to have something close to portable/gig-able.

I was looking at Korg CX-3s but they seem to be out of my range.

check out the yamaha ps 88 (I think beach house uses one), best organ sound I've heard from a non organ on the cheaper side.

Get a Hammond L112.
The organ player in my band has one he runs though a 1978 Marshall Super Lead MrkII, and it sounds fucking awesome.
It's not light though. He brings it to gigs though.
