Snowdrift question

I just got my snowdrift a few days ago, and it's pretty cool, but is it supposed to oscillate this much? The first mode is silent and clear, and sounds pretty decent, but when I click on mode two I have to fight the controls to keep it from sounding like a boat engine. Was this intentional, or am I missing a resistor or something? I haven't heard it oscillate in the demo vids...

Sorta similar with mine. I gather it's pretty sensitive to different pickups and amps etc and as I'm using high output pups I assumed that was the reason for it. I haven't sat down yet and messed with it that much though and it's a pretty deep pedal in terms of how many sounds and variations of sound are available.

I have some cheap patch cables between my pedals so I tried going straight into my amp with it and now it doesn't oscillate and sounds a lot better. These same cables wouldn't work with my RC-2 and I read it won't take cables with resistors in them. Case of shitty patch cables perhaps? Any suggestions?

Maybe not the cables... maybe your pedal order in the chain. Try the Snowdrift first in the chain.
Don't put a pedal with a buffer or a non true bypass pedal before it.

This. I was using a modded analog DS-1 as an overdrive for my other pedals and couldn't figure out why my pedals all sounded like shit compared to their corresponding Youtube demos. The feedback stomp on my Eau Claire Thunder wouldn't squeal, and the Snowdrift oscillated wildly in its second stage, for a few examples. Turns out that even the modded DS-1s don't have true bypass, and the moment I took it out of the chain, everything started to sound AMAZING.

tl;dr: Check yo' buffers. Lotsa ILF-friendly pedals don't want buffered bypass in front of them.
