Hiwatt Hi Gain

Post by Hacken »

I´m kind of bored with the sound in my cheap Bugera amp and wanna get something new.
I´m looking for a head with a nice clean channel and wouldn´t complain if it had more channels.
Hiwatt has good cleans, the Hi Gain is kind of cheap and looks cool as fuck.
Any one how would recomend it?
Or is there other options? Give me something good!

And Fender mongers stay away, i want mids and loose bottom end! Rule Britannia!

Hi-Watts are incredible amps. Just run a very good OD or Fuzz through it for the heavy, and you're set for life.

Last weekend I recorded with a bunch of amps, one was an old Hi-Watt custom 100. I used a timmy to overdrive it and it sounded beautiful with my tele. I'm sure it will run equally as good with whatever pedal you may be interested in.

I was doing some research and I saw a new 50 watter with 4x12 cabinet for 1000 euros that seems pretty cheap! :)

For the price those go for, there are much better choices. Even for keeping on the Hiwatt track, there's vintage, Reeves, maybe a used Harry Joyce, VHR if you do DIY, and probably some more.

I'm not sure I'd describe the low end as loose on a Hiwatt, though. Maybe by modern standards, but not by mine. Hmm.
