And Aardvarks! Kits!

Post by McSpunckle »

Gauging interest for some AA kits, yo.

They'll include a manufactured PCB, components, and a drilled enclosure, and cost something like $60. I'll be sure the price is inline with comparable kits.

I figure it would be best to strip some things from them, and let you decide what parts you want to wire up because the full ones have quite a bit of external wiring (compared to, say, an LPB or Fuzz Face). I'd also use more "normal" switches that are easier to solder to.

Here's a gut shot of a fuzz one:

I'm thinking the best way to do it would be to make the toggle and tone control optional, and lay out the PCB to make it extra easy to build. Looking for input from the people that are actually gonna be building them. : D

I like to try to build kits, though I rarely get them finished. :whateva:

But a good idea might be to include those little stopswitch pcbs... you know, the ones that make it stupid easy for ppl like me to wire up the resistor, wires and whatnot.

Yeah, I'd use normal stomp switches for sure, and smallbear has those little PCBs if i can't just make them. so, that's all totally doable!

Mammoth electronics, and I'm pretty sure you can order them from 4site (which is where Mammoth gets everything).

They're way smaller and the click feels nicer, IMO. Takes less force to use them. They're also supposed to last twice as long, as long as you don't fry them during soldering.
